Disney+ and the eight-digit code on the screen

Disney+ prints DisneyPlus.com/begin and an eight-digit code. The page asks for the code and then the MyDisney sign-in; when it is accepted the TV refreshes by itself. A TV that has been signed out prints a fresh code the next time.

Revised 28 September 2026Reference entry

Disney+ is one of the two services in this guide that state their code shape plainly (the other is HBO Max): eight digits. That single fact settles most doubts, because a screen or a page offering anything else — letters, six digits, a hyphenated block — is not describing Disney+.

The address is DisneyPlus.com/begin, printed with capitals on the screen and opening on Disney+’s own domain.

Identification

  • Printed address

DisneyPlus.com/begin. Capitalisation on the screen is Disney+’s; addresses are not case-sensitive in the name part.

  • Code shape

Eight digits, stated by Disney+ itself.

  • Other routes

None described on Disney+’s page for the TV app; phones and computers sign in directly.

  • The page asks for

The eight-digit code, then the Disney+ sign-in — a MyDisney login, which is the same e-mail address and password used for Hulu and other Disney services.

  • The page never asks for

Money. Plans are picked and billed inside the account; a code page with a card field is not Disney+’s.

  • Where the device is listed

In the Disney+ account’s device management; Disney+’s own pages on sharing and on managing devices cover removal.

  • Runs on

Smart TVs, games consoles and streaming sticks — Disney+’s own phrase for the devices that show the code.

What happens on each side

Disney+’s page on watching on a TV describes the sequence from the TV’s side. The app on a smart TV, games console or streaming stick offers a Log In choice and then prints the address and an eight-digit code. On a computer or phone, the address asks for that code and then for the Disney+ sign-in. When both are accepted, Disney+ says the TV screen refreshes with a successful activation prompt, and a Start Streaming choice appears. The viewer never types anything on the TV itself.

The sign-in behind the code is a MyDisney login, and it is the same login on every screen in the house. Since 2023 the same e-mail address and password serve Disney+, Hulu and other Disney services, and a change to that password on one of them changes it on all. This is why a Disney+ code page may mention MyDisney rather than Disney+ on its sign-in screen: the name belongs to the same company.

Codes are single-use and tied to one session on one TV. Disney+ notes that a TV app which has been logged out prints a new code the next time, and the sequence repeats. A household with several televisions therefore meets several codes, one per screen, each entered once. The page also carries a practical remark about the address itself: if it will not open in a browser that is already signed in to something else, a private or incognito window shows it cleanly.

Nothing in the sequence involves money, and nothing in it is typed on the television. The plan — with or without advertisements, standard or premium — is chosen when the subscription is set up and altered in the account settings. The code page carries the code field and the sign-in, and nothing about billing.

Easily confused with

  • Addresses that keep disneyplus but change the domain or add words (disneyplus-begin.example, disneypluscom-begin.example, begin-disneyplus.example). The registrable name is disneyplus.com.
  • A page offering a six-digit or letter code field for Disney+. The genuine code is eight digits.
  • Pages that describe an activation fee, a lifetime plan or a telephone line. Disney+’s code page takes a code and a sign-in; subscriptions are bought in the account.
